Webinar: The Effect Of Covid – 19 on Arbitration And Adr Practice: A Peep Into The Future

The Institute held its first webinar for the year on April 22, 2020 titled; “The Effect of COVID – 19 on Arbitration and ADR Practice: A Peep Into The Future”. The webinar was held in order to examine the practical ways of navigating through resulting contractual obligation and other associated difficulties and how the Arbitration and ADR community is dealing with the current situation.

It was moderated by Arc. Dr. Ramatu Aliyu – Founding Principal, Planned Shelter Consult, MD/CEO Planned Shelter Limited, the distinguished panelist includes; Mr. Simeon Oyakhilome Okoduwa, ACArb – Partner Alliance Law Firm, Head of Intellectual Property, Media, Entertainment & Technology , Dr. Ifeoma Nwafor, FCArb- Principal Partner IEN Legal Associates, Ms. Anna Joubin-Bret – Secretary United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) represented by Mr. Jose Angello Estrella-Faria and Mr Oluseun Abimbola, FCArb – Chairman, NBA Section on Legal Practice, Lead Partner Prime Solicitors, Ibadan.

The speakers spoke on how important it is that contracting parties review their contracts to determine the clauses that would enable their protection in the light of the destruction to their various businesses caused as a result of the pandemic. The webinar was held on zoom and recorded over 610 logins/participants.
