NICArb attains UNCITRAL Observer Status

The United Nations Commissions on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) is the main legal body of the United Nations system, dealing with the affairs of International Trade Law.

By means of this, UNCITRAL deals with harmonizing the rules of international business by supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and promoting the rule of law at national and international levels.

By attaining the status of UNCITRAL observer Status, the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators can participate in the UNCITRAL sessions, by helping to contribute to the global policy framework in Arbitration, Trade and International Development, as observers are brought into relationship with UN and permitted to partake in the works of the commission and subsidiary groups.

This status also gives members the privilege to represent the institute in attending UN sessions, as the 53rd session is slated for 6-17th July 2020 in New York.
